The New Zealand Secondary Schools Beach Volleyball Championships is one of the country’s largest junior beach volleyball events, attracting schools from across Aotearoa each summer. The championship provides a competitive yet supportive environment for students to represent their schools, showcase their skills, and experience the unique energy of beach volleyball.

The event offers multiple divisions to ensure accessibility for a wide range of abilities, making it both a development opportunity and a celebration of participation. With its vibrant atmosphere and strong community support, the championships play a key role in inspiring the next generation of players.

Location📍 Mount Maunganui Main Beach, Tauranga

Teams must be entered via School Coordinator 

Entry Fee: $149.50 (inc. GST) per team

Key Dates & Deadlines

• Entries Open: 30th June 2026
• Entries Close: Monday, 30th Novemeber 2026
• Team Rosters Due in Teambuilder: Monday, 30th November 2026
• Sign-in: Tuesday, 15th December @ 8:00 am; 1 head of delegation per school is required to attend and check the attendance of all their participants
• Technical Meeting: Monday, 14th December @ 6:00pm via Teams (link will be sent closer to the event) 

Divisions

Senior Boys and Girls: Year 12 and 13

Boys and Girls Year 11

If a year 11 wants to play in the year 12-13 grade, their partner must be in year 12-13. A year 12 player with a year 11 partner is not allowed to play in the year 11 grade.

Format 

Pool Play followed by Playoffs

All teams will have games scheduled on all 3 days

Playing Days and Time: Tuesday, Wednesday 8am-6pm, Thursday 8am-3pm
