Athlete Information Session Invitation | LA28 Olympic Pathway

 General

Volleyball New Zealand is pleased to invite all VNZ-registered Beach Volleyball athletes who are interested in learning more about the pathway toward the LA28 Olympic Games to attend an online athlete information session.

This session is designed to support and inform athletes by providing clear, early, and transparent information about what the Olympic qualification journey involves.

Session content will include:

  • Key timeframes athletes should be aware of as we move toward LA28

  • FIVB Olympic qualification criteria, including how quota places are earned

  • NZOC criteria explained, outlining the two key hurdles athletes must clear

    • Understanding that quota places (e.g. through events such as the Asian Championships) are not team-specific

    • Performance expectations, including the requirement to demonstrate the ability to achieve a top-16 Olympic Games finish

  • Drug testing education, including what to expect under FIVB and NZOC frameworks

    • Athletes will be informed that where a federation identifies a squad of up to 12 athletes, any of those athletes may be subject to both in-competition and out-of-competition testing

  • Opportunity for athlete questions and discussion

  • A high-level timeline outlining when further information and key decisions will be communicated as the pathway progresses

Registration https://www.sporty.co.nz/viewform/498285

Athletes who wish to attend are asked to register by Tuesday 10th February

A  link will be circulated after your registration is complete.

We strongly encourage athletes at all stages of their beach volleyball journey to attend. Whether LA28 feels close, distant, or aspirational at this stage, this session is about building understanding, clarity, and alignment from the beginning.

We look forward to connecting with you and supporting your journey.
