NZ U18 Beach Volleyball Trials Open for 2025

Volleyball New Zealand is calling on the next generation of beach athletes to step forward and trial for the NZ Under 18 Beach Volleyball teams. These trials form an exciting part of the pathway towards the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal (31 October – 14 November 2026).

Pathway to the Youth Olympics

The U18 programme provides a chance for young athletes to showcase their talent on the sand and take their first steps onto the world stage. With the Youth Olympic Games fast approaching, the trials represent an important milestone for those aspiring to wear the fern.

To be eligible, athletes must be born on or after 15 November 2008, meeting the Youth Olympic Games age criteria.

Trial Information

Two trial opportunities will be held across Aotearoa, giving both North Island and South Island athletes the chance to participate.

• North Island Trials

• Dates: 18–19 October 2025

• Location: Mount Maunganui Main Beach, opposite Commons Avenue Road

• Time: 8:30am – 4:00pm each day

• Cost: $120

• South Island Trials

• Dates: 11–12 October 2025

• Location: Pioneer Sand Courts, Somerfield, Christchurch

• Time: 8:30am – 4:00pm each day

• Cost: $120

Athletes will need to bring appropriate playing gear, including sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. A full schedule will be sent to registered participants closer to the trial dates.

Registration Details

Registrations close on 4 October 2025. All players must also be registered and current Volleyball New Zealand members before participating in trials or any VNZ events and programmes.
