The Volley Blacks faced Australia in their second match of the Oceania Qualifiers, with the contest finishing 3–0 in favour of Australia.
It was a testing match for the Volley Blacks athletes against the Volley Roos, who continue to build and strengthen their programme as they work towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
Despite the straight-sets result, the match provided valuable court time for the full squad, with all athletes getting minutes on court as the team continued to build combinations and depth across the lineup.
Set scores:
Set 1: Australia 16–15
Set 2: Australia 25–23
Set 3: Australia 25–18
We got to see Thomas Vesty, Rob Maxwell, Maia Westrupp, Daniel Malcom, Jamie Julian, and Campbell Forsyth take the court tonight, gaining important minutes against a strong Australian side.
No doubt the Volley Blacks will come out swinging in tomorrow’s Oceania Qualifiers final against Australia, as they look to put their learnings into action on the court.
