Volleyball New Zealand Farewells Shaun Matthews

Volleyball New Zealand is farewelling our Coach Development Manager, Shaun Matthews, as he embarks on an exciting new journey with Whangārei Boys’ High School.

Shaun has been an integral part of the Volleyball New Zealand whānau for the past three years, working alongside coaches, associations, and community leaders across Aotearoa. His passion for coach development and his dedication to growing the game have had a lasting impact on the volleyball community.

Throughout his time with VNZ, Shaun has played a key role in delivering coaching and coach development courses nationwide, empowering coaches with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in their roles. His commitment to supporting others has been at the heart of his mahi, and his contribution to the coaching space has helped strengthen our sport at every level.

Reflecting on his time with VNZ, Shaun shares:

“Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my experience in volleyball. It's been a pleasure to engage in reflective practice with so many passionate coaches, developers, leaders, and mentors. Thank you to those who have reached out with kind and uplifting messages. I hope I've left the jersey in a better place for someone to put it on and keep progressing things in the coaching space.”
