Coaching is a critical part of the game of volleyball.
There is evidence to suggest that participation numbers are increasing, especially at secondary school level.
With that in mind, we need more coaches, better coaches, and passionate coaches. And, we need to arm them with the tools to feel confident and competent in their role.
It's not only about developing coaches, it's about providing a quality experience for them too, so that coaches feel effective and connected.
Coaches need different amounts of time, support, and modalities to learn.
We have developed an approach and designed opportunities to reflect this notion.
There are formal, coach accreditation opportunities, as well as complimentary and self-directed opportunities.
Experience is a prerequisite for developing expertise, but a coach needs to learn from their experience to improve.
We aim to provide opportunities that support coaches throughout their learning experience - before, during, and after an experience.
In order to achieve all of the above, it is imperative that coaches have access to local support and development opportunities.
Furthermore, it is vital that the Coach Development system is capable of being sustained.
