Volleyball NZ appoints new Chief Executive

The Board of Volleyball New Zealand (VNZ) is delighted to announce the appointment of Toni-Maree Carnie as it’s new Chief Executive.

“It’s a wonderful outcome after a thorough selection process. Toni-Maree is a proven leader and we are excited for what she will bring to volleyball across New Zealand. Her strategic leadership capability combined with her effective stakeholder engagement and wealth of knowledge in a range of sports provided the independent selection committee with the confidence that this was an excellent appointment” says VNZ Chair, Claire Stewart.

Toni-Maree joins VNZ from her role as Harbour Sport Chief Executive, a position she has held for 11 years, managing a team of 45. Her key achievements include leading her team to numerous successes in Sport NZ and NZ Recreation Association awards, diversifying income streams and growing the Harbour Sport business. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence, innovation and making things happen.  Toni-Maree has worked closely with the Maori, Pasifika and Asian communities. 

Toni-Maree’s experience in working closely with volunteers, developing essential links between schools and clubs and growing regional capability as well as her commercial acumen will provide a strong base for developing numerous volleyball initiatives.

Toni-Maree has demonstrated sustained excellence in sports administration and management over a number of years.

Her passion to take Volleyball forward is effusive. She has been a key supporter of Volleyball for a number of years and was on the board of VNZ from December 2017 to May 2018. 

Toni-Maree will take up the role on 13 August and will be based in Auckland.
