Registration for the 2019 NZL Senior Women's Squad

Volleyball New Zealand are currently in the planning stages for the 2019 Senior and U23 Women’s Volleyball program. The major focus for 2019 is the Asian Championships for both programs. The exact dates are not confirmed at this stage however the Senior window is normally August/September and the U23 window is normally May/June. Both trips are to be approximately 14 days in total including build up time for each tournament.

To help with the planning expressions of interest are being requested which will give some indication of the players who will be available for selection. Some players may be eligible for both the Senior and U23 team and it is requested you list your preference to either or both programs if selected. The age criteria for U23 Asian Championship in 2019 will be that athletes must be born 1997 or later. Athletes in Junior (2002/03) or Youth (2004/05) age groups will not be consider for selection in the NZ U23 squad.

Some players may not be in a position to give a solid confirmation of availability at this stage until dates are confirmed. For those that are able to, please indicate accordingly and for those who are interested but need some extra time to confirm details and availability please indicate this and a potential time line for confirmation of availability.

VNZ will need to confirm entry to both events by December 31st this year and will need to have a confirmed list of 18 players by March 2019. The final 12 players must be selected from the list of 18.

As part of the preparation and selection process, a series of training camps both centralised and within the three zones will be run. All NZ based players who want to be considered for selection will need attend these camps. All dates and venues will be confirmed shortly and centralised camps will be scheduled in the VNZ HP windows. The first centralised planning and testing weekend will be in Auckland following North Island Junior Championships, December 1st and 2nd. Easter weekend will again be a scheduled training camp, April 19th to 22nd.  The 2019 SPC tournament will also be used as part of the build up to Asian Championships next year. This is scheduled for April 22nd to 27th in Auckland. All NZ based athletes wanting to be considered for selection will be expected to be playing at 2019 IPC championship.

Expressions of interest are open until the 16th of November 2018.
