Volley Ferns coach Adam Watson confirmed two injury replacements on Sunday for his squad of 14 ahead of the series against the Volleyroos Women’s side in Auckland.
Maria Hanabadi (eye) and Pippa Henderson (knee) have been forced to withdraw due to respective injuries and have been replaced by Jahmal Beckmannflay (WECA) and Kyla Te Wano Greensill (Waikato).
Both Beckmannflay and Te Wano Greensill are first-time inclusions in the Volley Ferns squad at senior level.
Watson said while it’s unfortunate for Hanabadi and Henderson, the newly-named duo have an opportunity to impress.
"It's tough for both Maria and Pippa and is the part of sport that no one enjoys," Watson said.
"However, we are looking forward to them being back to 100% and back among the squad at the next Volley Ferns camps later in the year.
"On the flip side with having a wider domestic squad it's great knowing Kyla and Jahmal can step into the fold seamlessly as all the athletes have been in camp together and know one another."
The squad assembles in Auckland on Saturday 10 August.
