The resignation of Steven Upfold from his role as Chief Executive

Volleyball New Zealand (VNZ) announces the resignation of Steven Upfold from his role as Chief Executive. After three years of dedicated service, Steven will be moving on to explore new opportunities.

Volleyball New Zealand and the Board acknowledge Steven’s energy and drive in his roles as General Manager, interim Chief Executive, and Chief Executive. He has been at the forefront of critical engagements with volleyball communities, driven key strategic projects, and worked tirelessly to support event delivery.

During his tenure, Steven played a significant role in the growth of volleyball in New Zealand. His leadership and expertise in the landscape of National Sports Organisations and funding agencies have contributed to shaping VNZ’s transformation and future direction.

As VNZ enters this period of transition, the board is committed to supporting staff and ensuring open and regular communication. A transition plan is being established to implement interim arrangements until a permanent Chief Executive is appointed. Updates will be provided, and feedback and questions from staff are welcomed.

VNZ thanks Steven for his valued service and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.
