Gold for MacDonald and Polley in Vietnam

New Zealand beach volleyball duo Liv MacDonald and Shaunna Polley have claimed gold at the AVC Beach Tour Phu Yen Open in Vietnam this past week, capping off a run of strong performances across Asia.

Those who tuned into the semi-final or final would have witnessed an impressive display of skill and grit. Shaunna controlled the backcourt with relentless hustle, while Liv dominated at the net, forming a wall that made it incredibly difficult for Thailand to score in the gold medal match.

High Performance Coach Jason Lochhead praised the team’s resilience and steady improvement.

“Really proud of this team. It’s hard being on the road this long. They’ve been getting better each week and came very close to winning twice. Feels good to get that gold.”

Adding to the celebration, Shaunna Polley was named Player of the Tournament. Her sharp defensive reads and powerful attacking presence made her a standout across the event.

The duo now head to the AVC Beach Tour Nuvali Open in the Philippines, carrying strong momentum and confidence into their next challenge.
