Getting Involved

Beach Volleyball in New Zealand runs from October through to March each year.

There are opportunities to play throughout the country. With leagues and tournaments being offered for a range of ages and abilities, pairs and fours. Generally social volleyball is played in fours and run by your local regional association or clubs.

Competitive pairs beach volleyball is first offer to Under 15 athletes, there are age grade tournaments run in conjunction with the "Challenger" tournaments which are part of our domestic beach volleyball series running October to December. For the younger athletes their season culminates with the National Age Group Beach Volleyball Championships (held at Mt Maunganui 23-24 January 2018) and the New Zealand Secondary Schools Beach Volleyball Championships (held at Mt Maunganui 3-4 February 2018).

For older athletes the "Challenger" and "Grand Slam" tournaments provide the starting point for each season which culminates over January and February with the International Beach Volleyball Tour, National Champs and, for 2018, a potential Commonwealth Games Qualifying series for our elite athletes.
