Volleyball New Zealand would like to announce its new Patron, Gilbert Enoka. Enoka
has nearly 20 years of experience working with many of New Zealand's corporate and
sporting elite, but he is keen to support the sport he represented at international level for 10 years.

“I’ve always taken an interest in the progress of volleyball”, says Enoka, “as a former New Zealand representative it is still dear to my heart. I know what the sport can provide for people – young and old - and I am certainly keen to contribute wherever I can.”

Enoka also had considerable success as a coach and was always looking for ways to improve his team's performance. That led him down the track of how the mind and  the brain work, and how this contributes to more effective performance.  He started exploring those dimensions and applying those principles to the teams he was coaching. There was an instant connection with it, and it
became a passion, which he pursued with vigor. This is where Enoka has become so well known in New Zealand.

Enoka has previously worked with the All Blacks, The Canterbury Crusaders Super  Rugby Team, The New Zealand Cricket Team, Netball New Zealand and WRC Champion Hayden Paddon, all as a mental skills coach and as manager for the All Blacks. He has been involved  with the All Blacks for over 250 tests and during this period  they have won back-to-back Rugby World Cups, one Laureus Award (for best sports team in the world), 17 Bledisloe Cups, three Grand Slams, seven Tri Nations and four Rugby Championships.

Besides sport, Enoka has worked on performance enhancement for over 30 years with many of our top CEO's and Business Elite. Volleyball New Zealand look forward to welcoming Gilbert Enoka as their patron.
