Referee Courses

Junior Secondary Schools Referee Course Information

Junior Secondary School Referee courses are conducted by schools on an as required basis.

This is a DVD based course which schools conplete as they require. This course targets Year 9 and 10 students.

Schools must forward to VNZ the list of students who complete the course Form R9 and on receipt of the form, students ate entered on the VNZ Referee Database and are eligible to referee at Junior Secondary Schools Championships.  There is no formal assessment but students are required to officiate one match and assessment/feedback is provided by their coach.

Associations will be responsible for condisting scorers modules.  Associations will submit a list of attendees to VNZ R8 and submit candidates scoresheets to VNZ.

Local Referee Course Information

This is a beginner or introductory volleyball refereeing qualification, delivered by Regional Associations

On completion of the Local Referee Module, the referee is recognised as a Local Referee Candidiate until the practical requirements have been met:

  • complete Local Referee Module
  • complete Local Theory Examination (minimum 70% pass mark)
  • be assessed as First Referee on 1 match and must score minimum 25 marks.

Associations are required to complete an application form R7 to hold a Local Referee Module. This must be completed prior to conducting a module. Associations will provide a course register R8 to VNZ and must forward candidates Theory Examinations and Practical Assessment form R1

There is a course fee of $5.00 per person

 

Regional Referee Course Information

Referee’s who wish to upgrade to Regional Referee will be required to fulfil the follwoing criteria:

  • be a Local Referee for at least 12 months
  • be registered with VNZ as a referee
  • complete the Refereeing Activity for Upgrade, Local to Regional Referee R3 and the associated practical components

Attend an upgrade course, complete and pass the Regional Referee open book theory examination (minimum 80%) and all practical assessments must score minimum 75 marks.

There will be one course per Region annually - regions apply to VNZ to hold a course R7

There will be a cost associated with attending this course.

 

National Referee Course Information

Referee’s who wish to upgrade to National Referee will be required to fulfil prerequisites:

  • be a Regional Referee for at least 12 months
  • be registered with VNZ as a referee
  • complete Refereeing Activity for Upgrade, Regional to National form R4

VNZ will conduct one course per year in conjunction with a VNZ sanctioned event, in which final practical assessment will be made.
The course will also include a theory examination, where a pass mark of 80% will be required.
There will be a cost associated with attending this course.

Federation Referee Course Information

To be upgraded to Federation Referee, the followign pre-requisites must be met

  • be a National Referee for a minimum 24 months
  • be registered as a referee with VNZ
  • complete the Federation Referee Course and pass the associated requirements
  • complete the Refereeing Activity for Upgrade, National to Federation Referee form R5

The course will be held in conjunction with VNZ Club Championships in which final practical assessments will be made.
