Warren has a broad background in sport. He has played Hockey at junior provincial level, was a member of the Junior National Shooting Team, and a National Volleyball Representative. Warren has spent 10 years in Germany following a career as a professional volleyball player and beach volleyball coach, which culminated in his teams winning diverse national and international titles and also competing in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games. He also directed the development of a boarding school for high performance junior athletes at the Olympic Training Centre in Heidelberg, Germany before returning to New Zealand where he took up a role as Head of the Coach Education program at Massey University. Warren continues to play competitive volleyball and won his last National title at the age of 41 with Shirley. In the same season he won an age group World Indoor Volleyball title (Over 40’s). Warren has studied at UCLA in the United States where he was a member of the Varsity Volleyball Team, Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg, Germany and has recently completed a Doctorate in Management in the topic area of Sport Psychology. Warren is married to Sarah and they have 2 children, Noah and Laura.
